Teamwork, Mentorship and More

Lakeside middle schoolers benefit from individual attention, small classes and a tech-savvy learning environment. Each student gets a Chromebook for grammar, math, and other subjects. Our middle schoolers work together in team projects and participate in numerous enrichment activities throughout the year, including "book buddies," a mentorship between older students and elementary school students.

It is fantastic to see kindergarteners squeal with excitement when they see a middle schooler who helped them learn to read or assisted on field day. It's not uncommon to see happy hugs between our big and little learners! We know that teaching middle schoolers to lead and mentor is essential for high school preparation (and beyond). We are a tuition-free public charter school, and take pride in preparing our students for the next chapter.

One of our programs that genuinely highlight the middle schooler experience at Lakeside is our "Wonder Fridays," a student-led initiative that allows 5th through 8th graders to teach others. From film to art to team building, it is a chance for our current leaders to instill their passions in others while learning to mature into the next phase of their life.
